SKULL-A-DAY 2.0 Monday...

Noah Scalin the crazed mad genius behind the Skull-a-day project has been nice enough to ask us to collaborate with him in a contest give away. We're going to give a Skelly t-shirt to a reader who'll be picked at random on his site, the catch is, they have to provide an explanation or comment as to who or what Skelly is running from. The winner will be chosen Sunday, February 15th, so hurry over to Skull-a-day and throw your cranium in the ring.

To commemorate this momentous occasion we have instituted the popidiot Super Secret Society where when you sign up you'll receive compelling news about the latest popidiot creations, snazzy postcards, limited-edition freebies, exclusive member offers and automatic entry in our bi-weekly drawings to win a free popidiot t-shirt. That's right, every other week one of you lucky so-and-sos will win a FREE popidiot t-shirt. To do this just follow the link on our home page and fill out the form.

1000 Garment Graphics

We just received our copy of 1000 Garment Graphics which you can order from Amazon -

It was designed and edited by Jeffrey Everette of El Jefe Design for Rockport Publishing. Once again El Jefe did a bang up job. The book is about printing on garments, mostly t-shirts but includes many other things such as hats, bags, belts, etc. If you love personal, quirky, mostly hand printed wares done by artists for the love of it, most of which is being done without the constraints of clients, this book is a great place to start. There's a lot of amazing work in the book. Some by friends such as Spaghetti Kiss, Adhouse Books and Squidfire and a lot of stuff by folks we're unfamiliar with but love being exposed to.

Some might say that it's full of ephemeral trashy pop culture junk and on some levels they'd be right. But we at popidiot love that kind of thing, for better or worse it's our nature.

Society of Illustrators 51

All of us at popidiot were thrilled to find out that our cover from last years catalogue was chosen to be included in The Society of Illustrators Annual 51. This is the second time in 3 years that something of ours has had the honor of being included in one of Society's annuals, all's we can say is "Thank You!" SI. The opening for the show will be Friday, March 6th, 6:00 - 9:00 at 128 E. 63rd St. N.Y. So if you happen to be at the show and see someone in a ridiculous T-shirt, buy'em a drink.

We look forward to seeing Barry Bruner, another RVA illustrator and fellow Team8press cohort, who was honored to have one of his pieces selected, at the show. Congratulations Barry.

Even though we posted the cover for our catalogue just 4 posts ago, we feel in light of this exciting development that we should go ahead and post it again, please, just humor us.

Now george, behave...

Even though we haven't posted anything in way too long, this post isn't going to be about T-shirts, it's about the sense of relief and joy we're feeling that we finally did something right by not letting yet another election get hijacked by a bunch of money grubbing, short sighted, self interested, entitled pirates.

It looks like the one thing the bush years have given us is a complete repudiation of his administration and everything it stood for. We're going to say something we never thought we would or could, thank you george bush. Without you subjecting the American People to an unthinkably painful eight years, we're not sure that we, the American People, would have had the courage to put someone like  Barack Obama into office.

After watching you over the last couple of weeks, george, doing interview after interview pathetically grasping for something, anything to hang your legacy on that hasn't been tainted by your actions of the last eight years. It seems that the one thing you may actually be able to lay claim to, however inadvertent, is helping to put Obama into office. Let's just hope that Barack, his administration and the American People are up to the Herculean effort that will be necessary to shovel all  the sh!t you've left behind.
